  • Manga passes through the stomach

    -

Contemporary Japanese comics, or manga, underwent significant development in the second half of the 20th century, as a result of which it achieved unprecedented artistic and genre diversity. This development largely culminated in the 1980s, when Japan was experiencing relatively prosperous years and a great development of domestic tourism and gastronomy. In addition to a large number of new cookbooks, food magazines, and guides to Japanese restaurants, a whole new comic genre called gurume manga, or gourmet comics, emerged at the time. His main heroes have become chefs, restaurant operators or simple gourmands, but above all excellent food and the experiences associated with it - and in some cases also merciless social criticism. The word comes from the word "shiboru", which means "pushing", "twisting", but it can also be translated as "shaped resistant dyeing". This dyeing technique was originally the art of the poor. In feudal Japan, many people could not afford to buy expensive fabrics such as cotton or silk, so clothes were often made from cheap hemp fabrics. At the same time, people could not afford to regularly replace worn clothes with new ones, so the art of Shibori developed as a means to help restore these old clothes. The 17th century saw the flourishing of various arts in Japan, and many different techniques and local forms of Shibori also appeared.
